Frequently asked questions
What does it do?
Lumbarease applies support and gentle pressure to the vertebrae of the lower back to prevent or manage back pain.
The back is made up of bones, ligaments, nerves and tendons. All these give your back great strength and flexibility but small amounts of damage can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. 40% of adults – 18.4 million – say they suffer from back pain lasting for more than a day while 15% say they are in permanent pain.
Being active can reduce the risk of pain but you need to support your lower back while you get on with certain activities in life like work, sport and other leisure pursuits.
How does it work?
Lumbarease gives specific support to the vertebrae through its three horizontal chambers. Their size and position match the same size and distance between the adult lumbar discs (approximately 23 mms).
These chambers can be individually inflated or deflated to provide the greatest relief and support according to your individual needs.
Why does it work?
Lumbarease is not like other back support products which only have a limited value in terms of pain relief. It effectively solves the everyday problem of lower back pain by ‘reinforcing’ the vertebrae that most need support. The belt is designed to be worn while activity or non activity is taking place to prevent the onset of back pain.
Is it for me?
Lumbarease is for everyone. It is used by sportsmen and women, workers who have physical and non physical jobs, and by people of advancing years who want to help alleviate the occurrence of recurring back pain.
Is it my size?
Lumbarease is fastened by Velcro tabs at the front of the waist. These can be positioned to suit most sized individuals.
Do I need to consult a doctor?
If you feel that you would benefit from support of the lower back either to prevent increased risk of back injury or as a result of gradual degeneration of the lumbar region, then you could benefit from a consultation with a doctor, physiotherapist or osteopath.
You do not need to consult a doctor before trying Lumbarease although if you do try the belt and experience any additional form of pain or discomfort you should discontinue its use and seek the advice of a medical professional.
Will I be doing damage to my back?
Lumbarease is a new and revolutionary support device. If you are in any doubt as to whether you can use the product, you should seek professional advice. It is highly unlikely that any damage will occur but if you are unsure then you must check with a specialist.
Some spinal conditions will require corrective surgery. Lumbarease will not be able to help with severe conditions such as these, although, during trials, Lumbarease has proven to relieve post surgical pain in such circumstances.
